Most fires in homes or buildings can be detected early by a rapid rise in temperature. Fire and smoke detectors are a very important part of preventing extensive damage from fire. As important as these detectors may be, many people still choose to use a heat sensor as well. One reason for this preference is that smoke and heat detectors may not work well in areas such as basements that are dry and dusty. USAlarm home security sells heat sensors that will detect two problems that may indicate a fire in the home: a rapid rise in temperature or when the temperature increases to 135°Fahrenheit.

The heat sensor in the USAlarm has a built-in thermostat connected to a fixed temperature alarm, which is set at 135°F. When the temperature reaches this point, the thermostat will trip the transmitter and trigger the alarm. The rate of rise alarm is set in much the same way. Since fires tend to burn fast, this will cause a rapid increase in the room's temperature. The alarm will sound if the temperature increases more than 15°F per minute. The USAlarm heat sensor will automatically detect if there's a low battery or other malfunction. The USAlarm heat sensor, which is 100% wireless, can be mounted on the wall or ceiling, but should not be mounted near areas that will trigger an increase in temperature not associated with fire (heat vents, ovens, etc.).

USAlarm home security system uses the best technology to keep you, your family and home safe for all perils. It's important to realize that the heat sensor is not designed to be used in place of the smoke and heat detectors, but rather with it. Used together, they offer the maximum protection against fire destroying your home. Many homes have more than one heat sensor in their home.
